Vladimir Guerrero Jr. does cartwheel on double-play effort

Fans appreciated the effort Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made on Sunday to try turning a double play.

Guerrero’s Toronto Blue Jays were in the field in the top of the first inning of their game against the Minnesota Twins at Rogers Centre in Toronto. There was a runner on first with one out and Carlos Correa hit a soft broken-bat line drive to first. Guerrero made the grab for the second out and then tried to tag out Edouard Julien. Julien was far enough away that Guerrero had to do a cartwheel type of motion after reaching for the tag.

No double play was turned, but we can’t say Guerrero didn’t try his best on that play.

The next batter struck out, so there was no harm in him not getting the double play.

The Jays entered the game 18-21, and Guerrero’s power numbers have been down this season. But the 2022 Gold Glove winner is showing he still has some strong fielding abilities.
