Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James Rallies the Troops Ahead of Do-or-Die Game 5 Showdown Vs. Denver Nuggets
Jason Parkhurst-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers live on to fight another day. This is after they starved off elimination on Saturday by securing a 119-108 win over the Denver Nuggets to mark their first victory in the series.

LA still has a long way to go before becoming the first-ever team in NBA history to come back from an 0-3 series deficit but at this point, LeBron James isn’t waving the white flag just yet.

Los Angeles Lakers News: LeBron James Sounds Off on Game 4 Win

LeBron was a man on a mission in Game 4 as he did all he could to extend LA’s season. He finished with a team-high 30 points on 14-of-23 shooting, to go along with five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block in 39 minutes of action.

After the game, James was vocal about taking this series one game at a time. Looking at the big picture makes it a seemingly impossible task for the Lakers, so at this point, it’s all about winning the next game:

“The only opportunity for us is just to play the next game,” LeBron said,  via Corey Ahndsford of Lakers Nation. “And we’ve given ourselves another life. We’ve given ourselves another lifeline and it’s a one-game series for us. Monday’s game is the most important game of the season for us and we understand that and we know that so it’s that stake where you lose, you’re done or you win and you keep going. So, it’s not much to talk about.”

Saturday’s victory was LA’s first win over the Nuggets in their last 12 meetings. It’s good to see the Lakers finally break the curse but for his part, LeBron isn’t putting much stock into it:

“I don’t know. We won this game and that was most important,” LeBron added. “Now we got to start focusing on the next one. If we lose the next one then it will be 12-1 in the last 13 games so we want to try to make that not happen. We want to continue to try to play good basketball and focus on our next task and our next task is like I said, Monday’s game and see what happens.”

As James said, all the Lakers can do now is to focus on Game 5 on Monday.
